The Douglas County Planning Department, an agency of County government, provides information and technical assistance to the public and local officials, administers the County land use ordinances, and supports a variety of citizen involvement and planning related programs.

The planning program is administered under the guidance of the Board of Commissioners with the advice of the Planning Commission and other advisory groups.  It is client focused with an expectation that quality comprehensive planning and administration can achieve a desirable future.

Our program is administered with GREAT SPIRIT.  That mission is embodied in each of our employees "personal commitment to a positive result".  In land use administration we can not always say yes, but we can focus on timely, accurate responses.  We strive for win-win program results.
