Welcome to the Douglas County Park Department. The goal of the department is to enhance the lives of Douglas County residents and visitors by providing quality facilities for wide-ranging and diverse recreational opportunities.
The Douglas County Park Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of 3,338 acres of park land of which 2,832 acres are developed. Facilities vary from the highly maintained and utilized River Forks Park to the undeveloped timber lands held in trust for future recreation.
Recreational opportunities are as varied as Douglas County itself. From the shores of the Pacific Ocean at Winchester Bay to the Cascade Mountains, outdoor recreation abounds. Sand camping, ATV access to the Dunes National Recreation Area, and historic lighthouse tours are available on the coast. Fishing, boat launching sites, hiking, and picnicking are ready for your pleasure along the rivers and streams of Douglas County. The 1,100 acre Kanipe Ranch offers a historic view of county ranching as well as equestrian, biking, and hiking trails in its natural environment.
The county operates and maintains eight RV and tent camp grounds located throughout the county. In partnership with the Oregon State Marine Board, we manage 21 boat launch facilities on the tributaries of the Umpqua River and on three county reservoirs for your enjoyment.
Whatever your outdoor recreation activities may be, Douglas County can give you the recreational experience of a lifetime.
