THE POSITION:
This position coordinates certain Division services within the Sutherlin
and Yoncalla areas. Essential Functions: Assesses senior’s need
for service (e.g., home-delivered meals, senior companions). Provides
information to clients and assistance to access health services, social
services, public benefits, local resources, and opportunities. Visits
clients in their homes; prepares and updates client’s record in
Division’s Management Information System; records on Service Center
Reports. Recruits, orients, schedules, supervises and trains
volunteers. Orders meals from Division’s food service contractor.
Works cooperatively with lessor of center. Counts and secures
contributions received for daily meals served/delivered. Verifies hours
recorded by RSVP volunteers. Attends staff meetings, conferences,
workshops and training. Requires regular and consistent attendance.
Marginal Functions: Other duties as assigned.
STARTING
SALARY:
$10.92 per hour plus excellent benefit package, including retirement.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in social science, gerontology, social work, home
economics or related field OR three years of progressively
responsible experience in a social service agency which includes
program-coordination or supervisory experience OR a satisfactory
equivalent combination of education and training. Must possess a valid
Oregon Driver’s License at time of appointment. Will be required
to use own vehicle for driving assignments. Vehicle should be in good
operable mechanical condition and insured as required by Oregon law;
proof of insurance will be required.
In
addition, applications will be reviewed based on the following:
reasonable knowledge of community nutrition, health and social
service programs; reasonable knowledge of the field of gerontology;
basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures and skill
in the operation of basic office equipment, which includes personal-type
computers; ability to direct the work of and motivate volunteers;
ability to plan/organize and direct activities of the service center;
ability to work independently within a team concept; ability to
establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data; ability to
courteously meet and deal effectively with senior citizens, coworkers
and the public; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and
written form.
PHYSICAL
DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily at North County Senior Centers in Sutherlin
and Yoncalla as well as at private residences. Could include working in
crowded areas. Requires bending, color identification, gripping with
hands and fingers, hearing voice conversation and alarms, keyboarding,
lifting up to 34 pounds, operating passenger vehicles, pulling, pushing,
reaching, sitting, standing for long periods, and walking.
PHYSICAL
EXAMINATION:
Offer of employment is contingent upon final
candidate successfully completing and passing the pre-employment
chemical detection screen. To determine if physically qualified to
perform the essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon
satisfactory results of a post-offer medical exam; conducted at county
expense.
DRIVING
RECORD:
Applicants selected for interview will be required to bring to the
interview a recent Court Print driving history obtained from the DMV.
