THE POSITION: Performs basic and routine duties to maintain the
cleanliness of the Douglas County buildings and offices.
Essential Functions: Dusting, cleaning work surfaces;
vacuuming/cleaning floors; cleaning and supplying restrooms; emptying
trash; clean, mop, strip, wax and buff floors; shampoo carpets with
extractor; wash windows, blinds, walls and ceilings; clean and disinfect
restrooms; inventory and restock local supply areas. Requires regular
and consistent availability.
SALARY:
$9.16 per hour
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year progressively responsible work experience in custodial
maintenance in an institution or on a large scale; or any satisfactory
combination of experience and training.
Applications will receive further evaluation based on
reasonable knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, equipment, and
supplies used in custodial maintenance in an institution or on a large
scale; skill and ability to operate power cleaning equipment; skill and
ability to use appropriate cleaning products; ability to adjust to
priority changes and work well under pressure; ability to interpret and
comply with written and oral instructions; ability to perform heavy
manual labor; ability to manage time efficiently; ability to courteously
meet and deal effectively with coworkers and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This work involves bending, gripping with hands and fingers, hearing
voice conversation and alarms, some keyboarding, color identification,
kneeling, lifting up to 60 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing
for long periods, stooping, twisting body, and walking. This position
requires physical stamina to perform manual labor. Work is performed in
an environment that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring
safety precautions including exposure to chemicals and fumes, dampness,
bee stings, dust or pollen, noxious odors, noisy work areas that require
wearing ear plugs/muffs, wearing rubber or plastic gloves, working in
water, working shifts and working with solvents, grease, oil or ink.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION:
To determine if physically qualified to perform the essential functions,
employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory results of a
post-offer medical (and audiological) exam; conducted at county expense.
