THE POSITION: Performs journey-level duties in corrective
and preventative maintenance to county buildings, equipment, and
grounds. Essential Functions: Preventative maintenance;
plumbing, grounds maintenance, equipment repair, general remodels,
painting, appliance repair. Requires regular and consistent attendance.
Marginal Functions: Assist the General Maintenance workers in
executing daily corrective work orders.
STARTING SALARY: $13.01 per hour plus a full family
benefit package including retirement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years progressively
responsible work experience in building construction or building and
mechanical maintenance which affords work experience in plumbing, drain
lines, painting, woodworking, roofing, cement work, electrical and HVAC
systems, appliance repair and grounds maintenance or any satisfactory
equivalent combination of experience and training. At time of
appointment, must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license. Limited
Maintenance Electrician (LME) license desirable.
In
addition to the above requirements, applications will receive further
screening based on considerable knowledge of building
constructions, mechanical, and plumbing methods, principles, practices,
equipment, materials as applied to corrective and preventative building
and dock maintenance; considerable knowledge of methods, equipment and
materials used in HVAC systems, plumbing, painting, appliance repair;
reasonable knowledge of grounds maintenance; basic knowledge of Oregon
Specialty Codes that govern building construction, mechanical and
plumbing; skill in safe operation of appropriate power tools and
equipment; ability to effectively communicate in oral and written
forms; read blueprints and penciled layout sketches; interpret and
comply with written and oral instructions; estimate time and materials
for individual projects and manage time efficiently; utilize problem
identification and resolution techniques; establish and maintain records
and reports; meet and deal effectively with other employees, vendors,
contractors, facility users and the public.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: Finalist must undergo
and successfully complete a thorough background investigation including
a criminal history check through the Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires bending,
climbing ladders, color identification, crawling, gripping with hands
and fingers, hammering, hearing alarms and voice conversation,
keyboarding, kneeling, frequently lifting/carrying up to 60 pounds,
operating trucks and passenger vehicles, pulling, pushing, reaching,
shoveling-digging, sitting, standing long periods, walking, walking
rough terrain. Work is performed in an environment involving everyday
risks or discomforts, with common exposure to chemicals and sometime
adverse weather conditions. Employees may share common exposure to
communicable disease. A reasonable amount of driving is required.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: Offer of employment is contingent
upon final candidate successfully completing pre-employment chemical
detection screen. To determine if physically qualified to perform the
essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory
results of a post-offer medical and audio logical exam; conducted at
county expense.
DRIVING RECORD: Applicant selected for interview will be
required to bring to the interview a Court Print driving history
obtained from DMV. Please allow 5-7 days for delivery or two weeks for
