THE
POSITION:
Performs complex accounting and financial support responsibilities,
which require considerable judgment in the application and
interpretation of rule, regulations, procedures, contracts, federal,
state, and departmental requirements. Essential functions: Cash
handling, receipting, bank deposit preparation, turnover reports and
reconciliation; quarterly audits at satellite offices. Maintain
department petty cash fund. Preparation of fiscal, financial and
statistical reports using electronic information systems; including, but
not limited to monthly allocation journal voucher preparation, invoice
coding, payroll distribution journal vouchers, fleet database
maintenance for cost distribution, copier reads and cost distribution,
internet searches, etc. that involve examination and consideration of
facts, researching and consultation with fiscal, technical and/or
professional staff to resolve problems. Review daily, weekly, monthly
computer reports and reconcile supporting documentation to detect and
correct errors. Provide training of departmental personnel regarding
accounting systems, policies and/or procedures. Perform various routine
office support services and clerical tasks. Position requires regular
and consistent attendance.
STARTING SALARY RANGE:
$12.25 - $14.09 per hour plus excellent full-family
benefit package, OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred
compensation retirement savings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree in accounting and two years work related experience
OR four years accounting experience OR a satisfactory equivalent
combination of experience and training.
Desirable Qualifications:
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Access,
and able to problem solve in a complex computerized environment.
In addition
to the above requirements, applications will receive further evaluation
based on considerable knowledge of accounting principles,
practices, and techniques; considerable knowledge of automated
accounting systems; reasonable knowledge of modern office practices and
procedures. Skill in use of modern office equipment that
includes automated equipment and Information technology systems
including, but not limited to spreadsheets, relational databases,
accounting software programs and word processing. Ability to
communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; lead the work of
other employees; provide training to employees relating to accounting
systems and procedures; prepare detailed fiscal, financial and
statistical records and reports; work independently and within team
unit; efficiently organize time to meet deadlines; use judgment and
maintain confidentiality in dealing with consumers, employees, outside
agencies and the public; have ability to remain calm in high pressure
situations; and accept supervision, direction and training from others.
TESTING:
Skills testing will be given prior to
interviews.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION/RECORD CHECK AUTHORIZATION:
Because this position is
responsible for cash handling, the finalist will be subject to a
background check including, but not limited to, credit, criminal (LEDS),
judgments, etc.
DRIVING RECORD:
Applicants selected for interview will be required to bring to the
interview a Court Print driving history obtained from the DMV. Please
allow 5-7 days for delivery; longer for out of state.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION:
Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a
pre-employment chemical detection screen conducted at County’s expense.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an office environment and is generally sedentary;
however position may require bending, hearing voice conversations, color
identification, keyboarding, kneeling, lifting up to 15 pounds, pulling,
pushing, reaching, sitting, standing and walking. |
