Senior Companions help with reading, sharing a meal, taking a walk, providing respite for family caregivers and help with escorting a client to the doctor's office and shopping.

Senior Companions are not housekeepers, personal care assistants or overnight / long term respite providers. Senior Companions provide elderly seniors with help in living independently with diginity.


Qualifications

  • Be at least 60 years of age
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Have a sincere desire to help elderly seniors remain independent.
  • Give 15 hours per week to volunteer

Benefits to the Clients

  • Offering companionship and friendship to elderly adults
  • Providing limited transportation

Benefits to Volunteers

  • Receive a modest tax-free hourly stipend
  • Reimbursement for transportation
  • Accident and liability insurance while volunteering
  • Pre-service and monthly training sessions with leadership opportunities
  • Be part of the solution
  • Know that you have made a difference in another senior's life!
  • Those not meeting income guidelines can volunteer without receiving a stipend.
