MINUTES of the Board meeting held on October 5, 2011
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION FOR COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS ONLY
1. COMMISSION ON CHILDREN & FAMILIES – 2011-12 DHS Intergovernmental Agreement (Gillian Wesenberg)
The 2011-12 Intergovernmental Agreement between the Department of Human Services and Douglas County includes a year’s allocation of $47,108.00 for the Runaway and Homeless Initiative.
2. COMMISSION ON CHILDREN & FAMILIES – Contract with Phoenix School (Gillian Wesenberg)
The Contract between Douglas County and Phoenix School is for the continuing operation of the Teen Drop-In Center. The contract has a maximum of $47,108.00 and a contract term that is July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.
3. COUNTY COUNSEL/DOUGLAS COUNTY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD – Fourth Extension of Contract with Aldercraft, LLC (Paul Meyer)
Fourth modification to the Agreement between Douglas County and Aldercraft, LLC. The modification extends the term of the lease to October 20, 2012.
4. JUVENILE – Delegation of Authority (Aric Fromdahl)
The Juvenile Department has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice in the amount of $250,000.00 (2 year grant) to fund the Douglas County Girls Community Partnership Project. Prior to distribution, the grant funds need to be accepted electronically. The Delegation of Authority will allow Aric Fromdahl, interim Juvenile Department Director to accept the award on behalf of Douglas County as the Authorized Grantee Official.
5. LAND – Permit with Gardiner Sanitary District (Gary Groth)
Permit with Gardiner Sanitary District that allows the district to construct and maintain an emergency effluent collection system on County owned property north of Reedsport. The system is part of an emergency response plan required by the DEQ.
6. LAND – Forest Stand Improvement Contract (Gary Groth)
Forest Stand Improvement Contract with Santos Reforestation Inc. for thinning work on 198 acres of County owned forest land in the Reedsport area. Bid price is $185.00 per acre, for a total of $36,630.00. This project will be paid for with a grant from the Oregon Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service using American Reinvestment and Recovery Act Funds.
7. SHERIFF – First Extension of Saving Grace Contract (John Hanlin)
First Contract Extension with Saving Grace in the amount of $151,660.00. Contract term will end June 30, 2012.
8. MISCELLANEOUS – Appointment to the Employee Benefit Committee (Don Cherry)
A vacancy exists on the Employee Benefit Committee due to a resignation. Linda Wagner from Health and Social Services will fill the vacant position with a term ending December 31, 2013.
